Things to do in Brighton
Brighton plays host to a diverse range of activities and attractions. The water is always a popular attraction and visitors flock to Dendy Beach to view the colourful bathing boxes that line the foreshore. Nearby Half Moon Bay, Sandringham Beach and Hampton Beach also draw large crowds of Melbournians on hot summer days. History of Brighton
Brighton was first settled by Europeans in 1840 and was named after the British town of the same name. Following European settlement, Brighton quickly became the playground of the rich and famous who came to the suburb to enjoy its enviable bayside location. Grand mansions and stately public buildings were constructed in the suburb, many of which remain today.
Landmark in Brighton
Brighton's most iconic landmarks are the colourful bathing boxes which sit along Dendy Beach. The backdrop of many a photograph and postcard, Brighton's bathing boxes date back to the 1860s and have been wonderfully maintained and preserved allowing the visitor to experience these landmarks.
